INTRODUCTION TO
COMPUTER
TODAY WE WILL BE LOOKING AT SOME COMPUTER KEYS AND SOME
FUNCTION
The computer system has a lot of keys and all of them has
their functions.. which will be discussing today
The numeric key
is extremely useful when entering a large set of numerical
data into the computer
1.
Enter/return
key you must press the return key
after typing a command
to tell the computer to execute the command.
2.
Space
bar this is the long unlabeled key
at the bottom of the keyboard, it move the cursor to the right. In some
programs, it is used to erase character in front of it
3.
Back
space this may be mark an arrow to the left. It is useful in correcting
typing mistakes on the current line . it delete characters at the left side as
the cursor moves.
4.
Caps lock
this locks the letter in capitalization . this is a toggle key which means you can press it to get in and out of capitalization. There is normally
and indicator light to show that is on

Shift key the sift keys
will select in the other
case for the letter keys from
the one that is generated by depressing
the key. If the caps lock is of
when you hold down the sift key and press a letter key . it
is printed in upper case the
opposite will happen when the caps is locks is on. The sift key is also used to select the key in the upper half of each key.
6.
ESC
key this is called the Escape key. In some program it is
used to cancel a command in a program

Tab key this is for moving the cursor, a certain number of spaces to the right. If it is pressed
with shift key, some program will remove the cursor to the left of the same distance\
8.
Num lock this
will change the mode of the numeric key pad from the number to cursor control
9.
Print screen if this
key is pressed with the shift key, it
will cause what it currently displayed
to be printed

CTRL
the CTRL key is used with 1 or 2 keys to
give a complex command to computer
e.g Ctrl + S is used to stop and continue the scrolling display Ctrl + c is used to abandom a command. Ctrl +
Alt dele is used to restart the system
when it hangs. This is called warm booting..
